I am Beth Lillskau, known to the students as Frau. I have been teaching for 23 years and have been at Prairie since 2000. I started my German career as a sophomore in high school. Like many students, I had a great reason for choosing this great language. I didn't want Spanish or French because everyone took those. My other options were Russian and German. I was pretty set on Russian until I learned that it had a whole other alphabet. So...I took German. This turned out to the the right decision for me. I continued in college (mostly so that I could do the study abroad program). I attended Simpson College and then transferred to the University of Iowa. When I decided to go back to school at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville to become a teacher, I really thought I would be teaching English. I am very happy to be able to say that I have taught German every year of my career. I can't imagine doing anything else.
